ABSTRACT

I. CHILI Chili, also known as hot pepper, is an important vegetable and condiment crop grown in the tropical and subtropical regions of the world. It is an indispensible commodity in every home in the tropics. Due to their medicinal properties, vitamin contents, and the demand for chilies has been increasing all over the world. They are grown commercially in China, Korea, Indonesia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Japan, Mexico, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Uganda, Yugoslavia, Spain, Italy, Hungary, and Bulgaria. India is the largest exporter of chili followed by China, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Uganda, and Kenya and Nigeria (1,2).
