ABSTRACT
Technology and professional work are the inevitable means by which (industrial) firms practise environmental management. Although mainly determined by systemic-structural needs, actual environmental management practice is influenced by the (informal) lifeworld of the working sphere, too. However, in the institutional evaluations of environmental management, in particular, but also in the other case studies, lifeworld considerations were neither investigated nor do they appear to play a significant role in corporate environmental management.
