ABSTRACT

In the last decade a lot of "green" movements have arisen mostly based on political and idealistic issues, and unfortunately with a rather limited effect on the practical life.

However, within the last few years the World Bank and OECD has emphasised that recycling and the introduction and implementation of environmental friendly technologies or cleaner technologies must be considered as the greatest technological challenges of our time. To encourage the achievement of these objectives, the World Bank [2] has faced the realities and clearly stated that the improvement and protection of the environment is a question of money which should be payed by the developed countries.
