ABSTRACT

The general scope of this book is to give guidance on the practical application of the stnp method.

The strip method is in principle a method for designing slabs so that the safety against bending failure is sufficient. As opposed to the yield line theory it gives a safe design against bending failure. The strip method does not in itself lead to a design which is close to that according to the theory of elasticity, nor does it take shear or punching failure into account. The additional recommendations given in this book however take the moment distributions according to the theory of elasticity into account in an approximate way and give shear forces which can be used in shear and punching design.
