ABSTRACT

Microsilica is an incredibly fine material which must be effectively dispersed throughout the concrete mix to make the maximum surface area available for the hydration process. The material is extremely difficult to handle in its as-produced state as it is so fine. Therefore, it has to be modified in some way to enable it to be utilised in conventional concrete batching plants. If the method of modification Involves creation of agglomeration of particles, these then have to be broken back down in the mixing process.
