I t also continue d wit h this logic to recommend the use of fully-integral deck ends , that i s t o say , th e us e o f portal-typ e bridge s wit h th e abutment stems integral with the ends of the deck. However , received good practice was that such bridge types could only be use d fo r quit e shor t bridg e lengths , an d therefor e portals wer e generall y though t suitabl e onl y fo r singl e spans of 10 m or less .
