ABSTRACT

Light quantity in natural environments is highly variable, both temporally and spatially (Long et a l , 1994; Alves et a l , 2002; Oguchi et a l , 2003). Such variation in light environment imposes a great demand on the response of photosynthetic system. The plants, therefore, to survive in the highly fluctuating light environments should posses an ability to regulate the level of acquisition of excitation energy both in the long as well as short term.
