ABSTRACT
Several new proteins appear in plants infected with pathogens, and these are called pathogenesis-related (PR) proteins. They are induced more in resistant interactions. The molecular mechanism of transcription of PR genes, the signals involved in induction of these genes, and the possible role of PR proteins in disease resistance are discussed in this chapter.
