ABSTRACT

An interface, by definition, is the point at which two systems meet and communicate with each other. The focus of this chapter is on the human-computer interface issues related to menu design, display layout, system navigation, and design of help systems. Input devices are reviewed in depth in Chapter 6, and issues of training and instruction are the focus of Chapter 5. Computer use in the workplace is discussed in Chapter 8, and in the context of health care in Chapter 9.
