The s t a r t i n g p o i n t of our i n v e s t i g a t i o n s c o n c e r n i n g t h e h y d r a t i o n of High Alumina Cement (HAC) was t h e f a c t t h a t i n c o n t r a d i c a t i o n t o t h e c i r c u m s t a n c e s i n p o r t l a n d cements t h e r e l a t i o n s between t h e p a r a m e t e r s c h a r a c t e r i s i n g t h e m i c r o s t r u c t u r e and t h e m o l e c u l a r s p h e r e , r e s p e c t i v e l y , and t h e m a c r o s c o p i c p r o p e r t i e s were o b j e c t of d i s c u s s i o n i n a few c a s e s o n l y .
