ABSTRACT

Abstract The renovation of brickwork and concrete structures is a necessity, as it means maintaining by adding value using efficient techniques and durable products. This paper reviews the latest developments of wet sprayed mortars reinforced with Fibraflex amorphous metallic fibres. Based on the designer's, the dry-packed mortar producer's, the applicator's, the client's point of view, we split up the issue in separate factors such as workability of the fibrous material, durability, mechanical performance. The second part of the study is a full-scale experimentation : renovation of ovoid-shaped precast-elements, used in combined sanitary and storm systems. A crushing device was designed and results show that amorphous fibres advantageously replace traditional wire mesh. Keywords : amorphous metallic fibres, durability, fibre reinforcement, mix design, ovoid-shaped sewage systems, post-crack behaviour, renovation, wet sprayed mortars, workability.
