ABSTRACT

Blanking is a constrained shearing operation which involves elastic, plastic deformation and shearing. Major factors which influence blanking operation are punch-die clearance, punch velocity, material used and tool geometry, little is known about the effect of wear on the cutting tools, particularly the influence on the blank quality and the operation. Sondershaus, Buchmann and Timmerbeil researched the effect of different levels of wear on the burr height on blanks.
