ABSTRACT

It is recognised that a large proportion of the costs associated with a product throughout its life are fixed early during the design process, (Alic (1993); Whitney (1988); Bogard, Hawisczak & Monrow (1993)). It is therefore important that product evaluation should be seen as an significant aspect of the design process. Product evaluation should be addressed earlier and more thoroughly

than is traditionally the case. Later evaluation leaves restricted change options as highlighted by Molley, Yang & Browne(1993).
