ABSTRACT

In previous chapters you have come across many examples where one number is related to another in a very simple way. For example, the circumference of a circle is π times the diameter and the absorbance of a solution is a constant times the concentration. These relationships can be expressed as:

c=πd, where c is the circumference, and d is the diameter, and A=kc, where A is the absorbance, k is a constant and c is the concentration.
