ABSTRACT

China is one of the most important countries of producing rice. The total yield and growing area of rice in this country are ranked first and second in the world respectively In China, the deficit of water resources has been become serious year by year. In recent years, the water deficit-irrigation for rice have been applied widely and therefore, the importance of the research and application of the water-production function (WPF) of rice, which is one of the key factors for the rational application of water deficit-irrigation of rice has been enhanced. For this reason, the work for a research project of WPF for rice, which is funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China has been conducted from 1988 The content of this paper is one of the main results of this project.
