Czech Frontier in the 20th Century: Major Political Shifts Reflected in Changing Land-Use Structure

The Czech Republic is a small landlocked country in Central Europe. Due to its shape and size much of the Czech territory can be defined as "frontier" or "borderland". There is no place in the country more than 110 km from the nearest section of its boundaries. Thus border areas play an important role in the economy, politics, and social life of the country.
