ABSTRACT
This chapter covers relationships between the interfacial transition zone microstructure and the mechanical properties of composites. The latter are as follows:
the reversibility limit and internal mechanisms governing the limit being crossed,
breaking,
the elastic modulus,
Poisson’s ratio,
viscous and ageing components in behaviour resulting from application of long duration mechanical actions (creep and relaxation),
crack propagation mechanisms.
