ABSTRACT

This is not necessarily the fault of the industry as a general whole. At the first International Symposium the papers included a discussion by Ward [12.1] on the risks associated with high pressure waterjet use and the peculiar problems which this new device would introduce into industrial practice. However, and much more recently, the current author was invited to give a talk on some of the safety aspects of waterjet use in industry to a meeting in Detroit. Following the presentation of the papers a tour had been arranged to a local industrial site where, among other exhibits, a waterjet robot had been set up to cut a "self-portrait" in plastic.
