ABSTRACT

Electrotransport (ET) refers to the use of an electric potential to aid movement of molecules through biological tissues such as skin. Use of ET for drug delivery offers advantages over tra ditional parenteral drug delivery: ET is painless and noninvasive. Electrotransport devices are small enough to be worn unobtrusively with few restrictions on patient activity, and because drug delivery is controlled by the applied electrical current, preprogrammed and on-demand de livery profiles are possible.
