ABSTRACT
The regulation of prolactin synthesis is one of the best known examples of gene regulation by calcium. Some aspects of this mechanism may be general features of Ca2+ regulation of gene expression. For this reason, it is included in the discussion although it has no direct relationship to sarcoplasmic reticulum.
