ABSTRACT
FunctionalstudieshaveshownthattheCR3receptorcanmediatethephagocytosisandlysis ofiC3b-coatedRBCs(42).IthasalsobeenshownthatCR3isactiveinthenaturalkiller cell-mediatedkillingoftargetscarryingsurface-attachedC3fragments(43).Theeffectsof monoclonalantibodiesontheblockingofreceptorfunctionhavesuggestedamultifunctional roleforCR3(44).Thus,althoughsomemonoclonalantibodiesinhibitbindingofiC3bbutnot spreadingorchemotaxis,othermonoclonalantibodiesshowtheoppositeeffect.
