ABSTRACT
Particularly with tap water hydraulic systems in mind this chapter takes the reader through basic terms of microbiology, discussions of microbial growth, and possible actions of prevention and mitigation of problems caused by micro organisms. A description of general analytical methods in microbiology is also included, with a view to assisting the reader in understanding the test results.
