ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: The Pacific Institute has compiled a comprehensive bibliography of peerreviewed literature dealing with climate change and its effects on water resources and water systems. As of December 2001 the bibliography included over 920 citations and can be found at the Pacific Institute website. The International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has been active in compiling information concerning future climate change (IPCC, 1990, 1996a, b, c, 1998, 2001a, b, c). Other reports have been published that contain our state-of-the-art knowledge on the topic of global climate change and water resources. Gleick (1993) edited the book Water Crisis: A Guide to the World's Fresh Water Resources in which he and several authors presented summaries on several fresh water resources topics related to our resources on Earth. The Conference on Climate and Water held in Helsinki (Finland) in 1989 and the Second International Conference on Climate and Water held in Espoo (Finland) in 1998 provides another source of information on this topic, particularly for the European Region. This paper is a basic review of the literature on the topic of climate change, hydrology and water resources.
