Noreviewofmarginalfieldtechnologywouldbecompletewithoutsome discussionofthecostsofthevariousdevelopmentoptions.Inthis chapterweintendtoreviewthequestionofcapitalandoperating expendituresforsmalloilaccumulations(i.e.50-100millionbarrels recoverablereserves)inaNorthSeatypeenvironment,inwaterdepths between70mand150mandwithaproductionpotentialofupto 60000b/d.Theoptionsforoffshoredevelopment,asdiscussedinthe earlierchapters,arewellknowntotheindustry;intermsofcosttheyfall broadlyintothefollowingorderofdecreasingcost.
