ABSTRACT

The Palenque interactive multimedia optical disc prototype is based on themes, locations, and characters from The Second Voyage of the Mimi television show, which is being produced at Bank Street College as part of the Project in Science and Mathematics Education, initially funded by the U.S. Department of Education. The Mimi project includes a multimedia package of classroom materials - including the television show, computer software, print materials, and teacher guides - which introduces science concepts to middle-school children in a motivating and "real world" way. The "science" of The Second Voyage of the Mimi is archeology; the location is the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico.
