ABSTRACT
Planning and scheduling are vital ingredients of a successful engineering maintenance program. The vast majority of maintenance work that is performed should be planned and scheduled. Only emergency repairs are made without advance planning scheduling. All maintenance work should be planned so that the quality and cost-effectiveness of the work is assured. Emergency work must be planned as it is taking place, operation by operation.
