ABSTRACT
Thisreviewwilladdressthevascularchangesthatoccurinwholeanimalsfollowing activationofATP-sensitivepotassiumchannelsKATPbythepotassiumchannel activators(KCAs).Themolecularmechanismsinvolvedhavealreadybeendiscussed inChapters6to8.Indeed,therehavealreadybeenmanycomprehensivereviewson theKCAsandsomehaveincludedtheactivityoftheseagentsinvivo(Richereta/., 1990b;Edwardseta/.,1992;LongmanandHamilton,1992).Whilstprevious reviewshavetendedtocoverthebroaderissues,Iintendtorestrainthischapterto thepurelyvascularaspectsofKCAsinbothanaesthetisedandconsciousanimal models.
