ABSTRACT

The troublesome weeds in forest nurseries are the usual broadleaf and grass weeds found in agricultural areas.

Forest Nurseries and Plantations Weed control in forest nurseries is as important as in agricultural areas. It is achieved by manual weeding, cul t ivat ion and herbicides either alone or in combination. Hand weeding in forest nurseries is very expensive. Labour is not always available. It is less effective when weed growth is very intensive in the warm, humid and high rainfall weather of the forests. Cultivation becomes impossible once the nursery beds are formed unless the seeds are sown in rows w i t h proper spacing. If the weed prob lem is severe, herbicides provide the best answer.
