ABSTRACT

A finite-difference method is presented for the solution of the two-dimensional Boussinesq-type set of equations as those were introduced by Madsen et al [6] in the case of a constant-depth environment. The application of the finite-difference scheme results in an initial value problem and it is proposed the unknown quantities to be calculated implicitly by solving a linear system of equations. The numerical treatment of the system is briefly discussed, while numerical results are the subject of a following work.
