ABSTRACT

For moderate to large-sized samples, satisfactory approximations to the variance can be obtained when we replace the expected value of the second partial with actual sample values; that is,

8.1.4 Hazard Plot Estimates Nelson ( 1969) proposed a simple graphical procedure based on a plot of the cumulative hazard function for both determining the distribution type and for estimating its parameters from progressively censored samples. This procedure can be used for a number of different distributions. It is particularly well suited to estimation in the Weibull and the exponential distributions.
