ABSTRACT
Effectiveness of the Derelict Land Grant programme 58. DOE agrees with the Committee that it is important to assess the effectiveness of the Derelict Land Grant (DLG) programme and welcomes its conclusion that the Department's arrangements for the derelict land grant scheme have improved since 1985. However, DOE does not accept the Committee's unqualified claim that the Government is unable to make such an assessment at present. Much information is already available and additional measures designed to monitor the programme's outputs in more detail are already in place. DOE accepts the Committee's view that continuing efforts will be needed to maintain progress on developing further quantitative and qualitative measures of performance and already has steps in hand to achieve this.
