ABSTRACT
The initial findings of a parametric study of the response of UK concrete gravity dams to seismic loading are reported. Three dam heights were studied using a number of analytical techniques. It is shown that seismic loading can be important for UK gravity dams and must be properly considered in any stability assessment. Significant variations in the results from different methods of analysis are shown, and the importance of selecting appropriate analytical method is emphasised.
