ABSTRACT

The Dynamic I n t e l l i g e n t B u i ld in g s (DIB) a r e th e a c t i v e s e i s m ic re s p o n s e c o n t r o l l e d s t r u c t u r e s which r e p l a c e th e o r d in a r y s e i s m ic s t r u c t u r a l e le m e n ts w i th th e a c t i v e c o n t r o l l e r s (AC) . For th e f e a s i b i l i t y s tu d y o f th e DIB, we dev e lo p e a DIB a n a l y t i c a l s i m u l a t o r , and d e f i n e th e DIB re s p o n s e s p e c t r a , th e AC pe rfo rm an ce s p e c t r a , and th e Perfo rm ance S p e c t r a from th e a n a l y t i c a l r e s u l t s . The DIB s p e c t r a o f an A c t iv e A d ju s ta b le S t i f f n e s s System (A2S2) and an A c t iv e C ounter Force System (ACFS) a r e i n v e s t i g a t e d .
