ABSTRACT

Abstract Growing demands on the aging U.S. network of i n t e r s t a t e , c i t y , and s t a t e roads, and a r e l a t e d urgent need f o r cost e f f i c i e n t road c o n s t r u c t i o n and r e p a i r have r e s u l t e d i n increased a t t e n t i o n to methods of evaluating the m a t e r i a l s used i n pavement c o n s t r u c t i o n and r e p a i r . Several f e d e r a l grants, aimed at s t i m u l a t i n g research on bituminous mate­ r i a l s , have r e c e n t l y been awarded.
