With the advances in protein biomarker and protein drug research related to organ function or other aspects of health, the demand has increased for assay of protein biomarkers and pharmaceutical proteins in body uids. Brief reviews and discussions are given here on the needs and requirements for protein assay and current analytical methods for their determination in urine, followed by a discussion of the problems and issues for the analytical task to be carried out for protein determination in urine samples.
