ABSTRACT

The increase in levels of some organic anions, which is known as acidemia, can result in a decrease in diabetic ketoacidosis and lactic acidosis [1-4]. The concentration of 2-keto-glutarate, for instance, is an important biomarker for diagnosis of hyperammonemic coma. The concentration ratios between organic anions are sometimes more valuable than a single anion, such as the concentration ratios of acetoacetate to 3-hydroxybutyrate and pyruvate to lactate [5-10].
