ABSTRACT
Detailed appliance ownership data and information regarding the household were obtained from two questionnaire surveys. The information was issued in a number of detailed reports and a summary one.
Between 1977 and the present South West Water Authority staff have been maintaining and reading the meters. In 1983 the households were revisited using National Opinion Polls Market Research, with a further questionnaire aiming to establish the number of persons now resident in the house and the details of appliances now owned. From the wealth of information gathered on these households this paper aims at presenting some of our findings based upon the six year period from 1977 to 1983. The following themes are examined.
