ABSTRACT

In this chapter, I will describe the new Microsoft .NET Framework and explain the terminology and concepts you’ll need to understand to develop applications with this powerful platform. This chapter will provide the basic groundwork you’ll need in order to begin working with .NET, helping you to make the transition to .NET development. I’ll also set the stage to make it easier for you to use tools such as the Visual Studio .NET development environment. In the next chapter will dive right in and learn about the Managed Extensions with Visual C++.NET. If you are already familiar with .NET development, you can skip this chapter, but if this is your first introduction, you’ll find that the material presented here will help you jumpstart your .NET programming experience.
