ABSTRACT

Since the late 1980s there has been an important trend towards a truly multidisciplinary approach to the day-to-day medical and psychosocial management of HIV infection, and this has been reflected in the scope of major AIDS-related meetings. International conferences such as this one on the Biopsychosocial Aspects of AIDS have brought together social scientists, medical researchers, psychologists, doctors and nurses, service providers, health educators and people living with HIV, to update each other and learn from each other’s expertise.
