Adequacy of diet for fitness and health is like chasing a moving target because the appetite does not have a solely scientific basis. This is so partly because eating is a social act. It is often said that “all animals feed but humans alone eat.” Humans also like and dislike individual foods for other than sociological reasons. Fallon and Rozin (1) categorized food rejection into the follow­ ing four types, each with its own profile of psychological characteristics.
