ABSTRACT

Ammonium molybdate (NH4-Mo) has been reported to be a strong inhibitor of acid phosphatase activity (PTPase) (Glew et al., 1988), and phosphorylation/ dephosphorylation is of major importance in regulation of many cellular processes (Hunter, 1995). NH4-Mo is inexpensive and environmentally safe. Toxicological experiments showed that NH4-Mo treatment does not lead to mortality or cellular alterations in tested animals (Nunes et al., 2002).
