ABSTRACT

Several factors influence susceptibility to VHSV Among each fish species, there is individual variability in susceptibility, and the age of the fish appears to be of some importance-the younger the fish, the higher the susceptibility. All ages of fish are susceptible to infection, but younger fish are more susceptible than older fish, probably due to the development of at least some immunity in older fish following prior exposure. In highly susceptible fish stocks, however, overt infection is seen in all sizes of fish.
