ABSTRACT

The title of this book ought to give you a hint: Developing Essbase Applications: Hybrid Techniques and Practices. No, the book is not solely about Hybrid Essbase, but the introduction of the first new Essbase engine since Essbase 7.1 is simply the biggest thing to happen to Essbase in a long time. One could read that statement as hyperbole, but in fact, Hybrid is the biggest and best thing to happen to Essbase-better than Block Storage Option (BSO) and better than Aggregate Storage Option (ASO) because it is both engines all in one. In other words, it is a hybrid of both query processors keeping their best attributes and dropping the rest. The dichotomy between the two engines is finished and much of the bifurcated development approaches are as well.
