Delays in d iag­ nosis a n d repair can m ake surgical m an ag em en t a m ore com plex an d technically challenging endeavor an d increase an already heavy b u rd en o f m o rb id ity an d m o r­ tality. Early diagnosis an d repair are the keys to achieving survival and good outcom es.
