ISO 9001:2008 was developed on the basis of the following eight Management Principles:

6. Continual improvement
7. Factual approach to decision-making
8. Mutually beneficial supplier relationships
The proposed ISO 9001:2015 standards are based on the following seven Quality Management Principles:
1. Customer focus
2. Leadership
3. Engagement of people
4. Process approach
5. Improvement
6. Evidence-based decision-making
7. Relationship management The Quality Management Principles are explained with a “statement” describing each principle and a “rationale” explaining why an organization should address the principle. Let us examine them as provided in the annexures of the standards.
