ABSTRACT
Confi dentiality is fundamental to the relationship between doctor and patient. Patients expect information they give to their doctors to be confi dential, but they also expect good communication between health professionals. This chapter discusses the importance of confi dentiality and sharing information with consent, and it outlines when information may be shared without consent and the consequences of doing this.
