ABSTRACT

Ninety-fi ve per cent of oral healthcare in the UK is provided in primary care, mostly in general dental practice.35 For the general public, GDPs are usually the fi rst point of contact, connecting them if necessary to other healthcare services. Although the majority of FT posts consist of placements in general dental practice there are also a number within the salaried dental services. As an FD working in general dental practice you will be expected to see the full range of patients, offering the full range of NHS dental treatment and even some non-NHS treatment.
