ABSTRACT
In this chapter we’ll be looking at what makes us good communicators. We will question a number of platitudes about communication, especially the one that says: ‘Communication is just about using the language correctly’. Many doctors who come from abroad to train as GPs in the UK fi nd that the professional role, and the CSA examination, present cultural and linguistic challenges that they had not anticipated. The intention in including this chapter is to prepare you for these challenges.
