ABSTRACT

Looking after yourself may not initially seem to be one of your main priorities when thinking about your GP training. However, before you rush to turn to Chapter 5: Succeeding at Assessment, please stop for a minute and take the time to read on. We fi rmly believe that actually taking care of yourself is one of the cornerstones of achieving success. Ensuring that you look after your own needs can make a real difference to your mindset, which in turn can enable you to be much more open to the possibility of change. After all, becoming a GP is not an easy process, but then neither is being a GP. Taking time to develop good habits during your training will help to prevent later problems such as professional isolation and burnout. Also, some of the strategies may even help you to succeed at your GP training itself.
