ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the aim and the basic principles of the anterior-chamber sampling. It provides a list of equipment required for the anterior-chamber sampling. The chapter presents step-by-step process for the consent. It also presents methods of undertaking practical procedures. The most common scenario for aqueous sampling is in endophthalmitis, in which the bacteriological identification of the pathogen directs management. Cytological assessment may be appropriate in some intraocular tumours (retinoblastoma) and certain cases of uveitis.
